Mr. Steven Williams, Sr.

Adams announces the passing of Mr. Steven Williams, Sr.,53, who transitioned on Friday, March 20, 2020.

Steven David Williams was born in Fort Benning, GA on December 8, 1966 and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana.  He was the son of the late Steve Williams and Rose Mary Williams.

Steven attended Northwood H.S in Shreveport, Louisiana.  He furthered his education at Northeast Louisiana University, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Master of Business Administration from Touro University. In 1989 Steven enlisted in the United States Army, serving 31 years of dedicated active duty. Steven received 5 Army Accommodation Medals, 7 Army Achievement Medals, 2 National Defense Service Medals and 2 Bronze Awards. Steven served in Saudi Arabia and the Iraqi Wars between 1990 – 2008.

In 2006, Steven was stationed at Ft. Stewart in Hinesville, GA and with his strong connections to the community and his passion for mentoring he began officiating recreational basketball in Bryan County.  His love for youth and basketball led him to form an Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) basketball team, where he dedicated 11 yrs. as the Program Director, coach and mentor.   The Georgia Coastal Ballers won several championships across the Southern Regions.  Steven also served as the assistant coach for the Richmond Hill H.S. Boys basketball and refereed for the Georgia High School Association (GHSA).  Steven was loved by the youth and made a huge impact on the development of the community on and off the basketball court.

Steven was a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, where he served as Basileus for 2 consecutive years.

He leaves to cherish his mother, Rose Mary; devoted wife, Kimberly Williams of 30 years; daughter, Ashley Shanell Williams and son, Steven David Williams II; Mother-in-Law, Helen Walker; one brother,  Roderick D. Williams and two sisters, Angela D. Williams-Walker (Timothy),  Janyette D. Williams; two sister-n-laws, Angie Wafer-Bailey (Stuart), Deanna Williams; four nieces, Erin Wafer-Stevenson (Leo),  Rashaé Prater (Dominique), Dayona Williams, Chloé Diamond and five nephews, Phillip Wafer, Timothy Walker, Austin Wafer, Taylor Walker, Liam Diamond; and one great-niece, Dakota Prater and two great nephews, Tyson Stevenson & Dayton Prater; special friends, Rodney Williams, Terry Johnson, Trevor Thomas, and a host of relatives and friends.
