Mr. John White, Jr.

Adams announces the passing of Mr. John White, Jr. 90, who transitioned on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at his residence.

“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, and before you were born, I consecrated you; I
appointed you a prophet to the nations (Jeremiah 1:5).”
John White, Jr. was born in Savannah, Georgia on April 22, 1930 to John White, Sr. and Alice
Jamison White. He was the fifth of six children and was affectionately referred to as “Junior.”
Educated in the Savannah Public School System, John graduated from Beach-Cuyler in 1949.
He was a member of the A.E. Beach High National Alumni Association, Inc., and Who’s Who
Among Beach Alumni in America. John attended Savannah State College for three years with
a concentration in Industrial Engineering. He also attended Savannah Vocational School (now
Savannah Technical College) for Power Plant Engineering and was a Georgia State
Association of Power Engineers, Inc. Fourth Class Engineer.
John enlisted twice in the United States Army and was a Korean War Veteran. He was a
Sharp-shooter and earned the rank of Corporal during his military tenure.
John was united in Holy Matrimony to his high school sweetheart, Lillian (Hot Mama) Ware
on April 22,1952. This blissful and fulfilling union extended 46 years until her passing in 1998.
They had three children, Pamela Faye White-Ross who preceded him in death, Patricia Jolill
White-Dempsey and Kenneth Leonard White, Sr. who also preceded him in death.
John was employed for over 30 years as Custodial Engineer for Savannah Vocational School.
After retirement, he returned to work as Project Manager for Goodwill Industries of the
Coastal Empire. He was owner of J W Janitorial Services specializing in Commercial and
Residential Cleaning Services.
John was a faithful member of Greater Gaines Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church
since birth. He served in numerous capacities at Greater Gaines most notably, Sunday School
Superintendent, Assistant Sunday School Superintendent, Stewart Board, Trustee Board, Sons
of Allen, Class Leader, and Lay Organization. John was a Prince Hall Mason in Eureka Lodge
#1 and, a board member and former President of the Hungry Club Forum of Savannah, Inc.
“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art
with me; thy rod an thy staff they comfort me (Psalm 23:4).”
On Sunday, February 21, 2021 after a period of illnesses, God concluded that John’s work on
this earthly place was done and transitioned him to his heavenly home replying, “Well done,
good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of
many things. Come and share your master’s happiness (Mathew 25:21).”
John leaves to cherish his precious memories, his loving devoted daughter, Patricia
White-Dempsey (Ronald), grand-children, Jermaine A. Ross, Sr. (Bianca), Romell M. Ross
(Jatara), Ronald H. Dempsey, II, Ingel Jackson (Jimi), Kevin L. Dempsey, Sr. (Ebony),
LaTasha White, Kenneth L. White, Jr., Demika A. Dempsey, Iesha Phillips, Tirque White, 20
great grand-children, sister-in-law, Elizabeth Ware, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins,
God-daughter, Tonya Wiley-Bailey, a very special friend, Patricia Spady-Jenkins, devoted
friends, Julia Wright, Theodore Brown, Daniel Wright, and Charles Nelson.
“Let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and
be thankful (Colossians 3:15).”

Adams announces the Graveside Service for Mr. John White, Jr. 12:00 P.M., Friday, March 5, 2021. Public Viewing at the Funeral Home via our Drive Thru from 2:00 P.M. - 4:00 P.M., Thursday, March 4, 2021.
