William McKinley Burke Sr

William (Billy) M. Burke Sr. died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009 in Savannah, GA. Mr. Burke was born in Clyo, GA on Sept. 29, 1945. He attended public schools in Savannah, GA and was a 1964 graduate of Sol C. Johnson H.S. He joined the U.S. Marines in 1968 while serving in the Vietnam War. After serving his time in the Marines, he moved to New York City in 1974 and returned to Savannah, GA in 2004.
Surviving are two children, William M. Burke Jr. (Lucy) and Shawn A. Lewis (Ron), both of Savannah, GA; preceded in death one son, Edward M. Burke; grandchildren, Tevon, Shontel, Isiah (Diane), Jeremiah; sisters, Lois Purcell of Stone Mountain, GA, Ruth Price (Willie) of Atlanta, GA, Pearl Jackson of Savannah, GA, Rosalee Burke of Brooklyn, NY; brother, Eddie Burke (Rose) of Brooklyn, NY; a special niece, Patricia Thomas; special sister in law, Josephine Jackson and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
