Obituary

Rachel M. Williams, born Rachel Walker on August 7, 1950, in Savannah, Georgia, passed away on March 15, 2026. She lived a meaningful life in the place she called home from the beginning. Rachel was born to Eugene and Johnnie Lee Walker. Rachel is a proud graduate of Sol C Johnson—go Atom Smashers--class of 1968. Shortly after graduating, Rachel sojourned to Brooklyn NY where she met and later married Michael Antonio Williams Sr (1973). Through there union, they welcomed and raised 4 handsome young men, and one beautiful girl and has served as a seasoned matriarch for countless other children within our community and extended family at large

Rachel’s greatest joy was found in her roles as a mother, grandmother, and sister. Her legacy of love and resilience continues through her five children: Tony (Katrice), Mark (Katrena), Maurice (Raqi) Jhirmaine, and Becky. She was a cornerstone of a large, vibrant family and is survived by her devoted siblings: Eugene (Monique), Eugenia (Homer), Rhoda (Stanley), Collette, Altomese (John), Eric, and Norman (Michelle)- Rachel also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins who will forever cherish her memory and the lessons she shared.

Rachel’s family and friends will have an opportunity to remember her during a viewing on March 20, 2026. It will be held at Adams Funeral Services, located at 510 Stephenson Avenue, Savannah, GA 31405. The viewing will start at 6:00 PM and end at 8:00 PM.

A Celebration of Life service is planned for March 21, 2026, from 11:00 AM at Christ Memorial Baptist Church. Following the service, Rachel will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Abbey West in Garden City, Georgia. The burial will take place on the same day, March 21, 2026. The cemetery is located at 1336 Dean Forest Rd, Garden City, GA 31405.

Rachel will be remembered simply and fondly by those who knew her in Savannah and beyond.
