Obituary

Percival Edward Williams, affectionately known as “Percy,” passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at 10:53 p.m., at the age of 69.

Born on April 20, 1957, Percy was a devoted father, educator, musician, and friend whose life was dedicated to serving others. After graduating from Savannah High School, he continued his education at Savannah State University, earning his bachelor’s degree, and later received his master’s degree from Cambridge College in Massachusetts.

Percy dedicated 30 years of service to the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System, where he impacted the lives of countless students while teaching at Myers Middle School, Shuman Elementary School, Windsor Forest High School, and Oglethorpe Charter School. He retired from teaching in 2024 after a distinguished career of commitment and excellence.

Beyond the classroom, Percy was a gifted musician whose love for music was an important part of who he was. Through his teaching, music, and kindness, he touched the hearts of many and left behind a legacy that will continue for generations.

Percy will be deeply missed by his four sons, Amon M. Williams, Micah G. Williams, Seth K. Williams, and Jabez P. Williams; his brothers, Cecil Rose, David Rose, Sr., and Catrell P. Williams; his nieces, Cayla McClendon, Carmen McClendon, and Ashley McClendon; his nephews, Ashton C. McClendon and Catrell P. Sampson; and a host of family, friends, former students, and loved ones.

His memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
