Adams announces funeral services for Mr. Stephen M. Ellison, Sr. which will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 13, 2022 at St. Luke Baptist Church 418 W 38th St, Savannah, GA 31401.
Viewing will be held from 6 PM - 8 PM, Friday, August 12, 2022 in The Adams Chapel.
Interment: Greenwich Cemetery.
OBITUARY:
Stephen Ellison was born in Savannah, Georgia on May 31, 1964 to Vera Brown and Julius Ellison.
“Steve” as he was affectionally called, was educated in the Chatham County Public School System. He was a 1983 graduate of Windsor Forest High School, where he played football on the Windsor Knights football team.
Stephen was employed for the International Longshoremen Association Local #1414 during his high school tenure. He then started at Great Dane where he was employed for over 10 years. Stephen retired in May of 2020 from the International Longshoremen Association Local #2046 where he was a welder with the container maintenance and reefer departments.
Stephen loved to travel, he often took a cruise out the country and many vacations with his wife, kids and grandchildren. Stephen was very family oriented, he loved to have a good time with them. He loved to make chili for them and would throw deer meat in it sometimes without anyone knowing. He will truly be missed by many.
Stephen was preceded in death by son Stephen M. Ellison Jr, brother Henry Speaks and father Julius Ellison. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Gwendolyn E. Ellison; son Shaun M.(Mikelle) Ellison Sr. ; 3 daughters Samantha M. Ellison, LaTonya S. Humphries, and LaToyia E. Humphries; 5 Grandchildren Jaden Ellison, Shaun Ellison Jr, Jordan Ellison, Mahlon Ellison and Shane Ellison; mother Vera(Robert) Marchel; 4 brothers Eric(Grayzel) Ellison, Rodney (Shenita) Brown, Vincent (Jackie) Thomas, Timothy Thomas; 5 sisters Felicia (Charles) Ponder, Patricia Thomas-Grant, Tonya (Marcus) Foy, Lakisha (Jason) Hunter and Latoyia Ellison. Mother-in-law Patricia Humphries, and 3 sister-in-laws Marilyn (Lorenzo) McDonald, Barbara Speaks and Muriel Humphries. 8 God-children Jasmine Thompson, James Humphries, Byron Humphries, Michael Humphries, La’Daisha Brightwell, Jordan Gross, Madison Moon, and Legend Humphries. Stephen is also survived by 1 uncle Ralph Ellison and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
