Mrs. Theresa Law Burke

Mrs. Theresa Elizabeth Law Burke was called to eternal reward on Friday, July 18, 2008. She was born on June 17, 1948, to Edna Mae Brown Law and the late William Law in Savannah, Georgia.

She attended St. Mary's Catholic School and graduated from St. Pius X High School in 1966. She continued her education at Savannah State College and graduated in 1969 with a degree in Sociology. While at Savannah State, she became a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., and remained an active member through the years. Theresa was employed by the Department of Family and Children Services in Savannah and Atlanta, Georgia. While working in Atlanta, she met and married LeRoy Burke, III. There, they became parents to LeRoy ""Bud"" Burke, IV, Karen L. Burke, and William D. Burke. She relocated with her family to Savannah where she retired after many years of service as a Child Protective Service Worker. She was a devoted and faithful communicant at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, now Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church, and was involved in various activities and organizations including the Voices of Resurrection Choir. She worked tirelessly to help others without seeking the spotlight, fearlessly doing what was right. She always tried to be fair and honest. She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, painting, and music.

Cherishing her memory are her beloved husband LeRoy Burke, III; her three loving children LeRoy ""Bud"" Burke, IV, of Atlanta, GA.; Karen L. Burke of Nashville, TN.; and William D. Burke of Atlanta, GA.; her mother Edna Mae Law of Savannah; a sister Beverly Wilson of East Point, GA; a brother William (Ella) Law, Jr. of Savannah; a brother-in-law Joseph (Millicent) Burke of Stockbridge, GA.; a nephew, nieces, a host of cousins, relatives, friends, classmates and co-workers.

Funeral Services: 10 am Thursday, July 24, 2008 at St. James Catholic Church, 8412 Whitfield Ave.

Rosary: 6:30 Wednesday , July 23, 2008 at Resurrection of our Lord Catholic Church, 112 Fell Street.
