Mrs. Janet R. Waters

Mrs. Janet R. Waters, born on July 7, 1958, in Claxton, GA, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025, at Evans Memorial Hospital in Claxton, GA. She was a remarkable individual who made significant strides in her career and touched the lives of many.

Janet proudly served as the first black female officer in Claxton, GA, a trailblazer who paved the way for others. Additionally, she worked at Georgia Regional as an Activity Therapist, where she dedicated herself to helping those in need, demonstrating her compassion and commitment to making a difference in her community.

Janet is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Dupont Waters, Jr., their daughter, Davita Waters Ruffin, and their sons, Joshua Lewis Waters and Andre Howard. She also leaves behind numerous relatives and friends who will remember her kindness and warmth.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lewis Richardson, and her mother, Zodell McCrae Richardson.

A viewing will be held on August 22, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Adams Funeral Services located at 510 Stephenson Avenue, Savannah, GA 31405. A Celebration of Life will take place the following day, August 23, 2025, beginning at 10:30 AM at Jerusalem Baptist Church, located at 201 Baker St, Savannah, GA 31415. The service will conclude at 12:00 PM.

Janet's legacy will live on through her family and friends, who cherish the memories they shared with her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
