Annie Ruth Pinckney Keith was born on Sunday, August 8, 1943 in Boca Raton, Florida to Tilla Ware Pinckney and George Pinckney. After her mother passed in childbirth, Annie Ruth and her sister, Mae Alice, were reared by her aunt and uncle—Delcena and Eulie Brooks. Raised primarily in Savannah, Georgia, Annie Ruth was baptized at a young age at St. Philip AME Church “On the Boulevard”. She graduated from Alfred Ely Beach High School in 1962 and went on to attend Savannah Technical College for Early Childhood Development.
On Monday, March 22, 1965, Annie Ruth married Rudorth Alfred Keith, her husband of 47 years. God blessed them with four beautiful daughters—Simeonetta Ruth, Sharee Antoinette, Cindy Ann, and Roudeen Annett. Together, Annie Ruth and Rudorth raised a family grounded in faith, kindness, and determination.
Annie Ruth dedicated her life to the care of others and worked as a nurse’s aide for many years. As the heart of her household, she nurtured her children with wisdom and unwavering strength. Her home was a sanctuary filled with warmth and the irresistible aroma of her famous cooking. To her neighbors and friends, Annie Ruth was much more than a familiar face—she was a source of comfort, a listening ear, and a steady presence through every season of life. Whether chatting on the telephone, sharing a home remedy, or offering advice from her front porch, Annie Ruth’s signature personality remains unmatched. She spent her latter years in the Atlanta area, with her daughter Simeonetta as her primary caregiver. Her love, spirit, and wisdom will echo for generations.
At the break of day on Sunday, June 22, 2025, Annie Ruth peacefully transitioned into eternal life. She was surrounded by love at her home in Lithia Springs, Georgia. Annie Ruth was preceded in death by her husband—Deacon Rudorth, infant daughter—Roudeen, parents, sisters—Mae Alice, Virginia, and Lucile—and other loved ones.
