OBITUARY:

Lee Earnest “Bug” Scott was born to James and Louvenia Scott on April 4, 1935 in Screven County Georgia. Lee was a very quiet, mild mannered, and unassuming man. He was kind, easy to talk to and enjoyed good relationships with most everyone he met.

Lee enjoyed many memorable experiences from living in the country and shared these with his family. He grew tired of country living and wanted to experience city life so he moved to Savannah, GA. in 1964. He supported his family by working as a machine mechanic at Georgia Pacific for 36 years. He never missed a day of work! A “fluke” telephone call led Lee to begin studying the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses. Along with his wife Johnnie Mae, Lee dedicated his life to Jehovah God and symbolized his dedication by water baptism in 1984. His children Linda, Carolyn and Gary also dedicated their lives to Jehovah and were baptized in the years that followed.

Lee loved the field ministry and after retirement spent more of his time involved in it. He also treasured his privilege of serving as a ministerial servant in the congregation. One assignment he particularly enjoyed was that of Literature Servant. Lee was a fixture at the literature counter, distributing Bible literature to the friends. Lee prided himself on punctuality and dependability. Even when friends were not in need of literature they would frequently make their way to the literature counter to talk with Lee. He set a fine example and really enjoyed this aspect of his service.

Lee “Bug” died after battling a series of months-long chronic illnesses. He is preceded in death by his parents, three of his children, and all four of his brothers. He will be sorely missed by his loving and supportive wife Johnnie Mae, as well as by his children: Mildred Hammond (Eric), Patricia Allen (Donnie), Linda Osgood who was his loving care giver, Carolyn Berry (Donald) and Gary Lee Scott (Nikki). Lee has a host of loving grandchildren, Lindsey and Gary Scott II and others. Lee has sisters in law who will also cherish his memory: Betty DeLoach, Shirley Scott, and Flossie Scott. A favorite niece, Katrese DeLoach, nephews Byron Badger, and Dexter Scott as well as other nieces, nephews, family and loyal friends.
