Adams announces the Graveside Service for Mr. George Chapman, 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at Beaufort National Cemetery. Public Viewing: 4:00 P.M. - 6 :00 P.M., Monday at the Funeral Home.

George Thomas Chapman Jr. was the oldest of five children born to Rosemary and George Chapman Sr. He was born February 7, 1942. He was preceded in death by both parents, a brother (Lawrence) and two sisters, Sandra and Roslyn Chapman, and one daughter Tonya Simmons- Washington.

George was born in Savannah, Georgia where he completed his compulsory education at Alfred E. Beach High School. While at Beach High School, George was a Drum Major for the school band. He also ran Track. As a child, George attended St Phillip AME Church in Savannah. After High School he married Geraldine Norris. He later married Margaret Sumpter .

George Worked several jobs in the Savannah area, including Johnny Harris Restaurant, and the Mutuals Lounge just to name a few. George also served in the Navy as a cook, and was a member of Post 500.

Left with great memories is his brother Fredrick Chapman(Sarah), his children; Joyce Maria Jones, Gloria(Chapman)Brown(Earnest), Deidra Sumpter-Chapman, Gwendolyn Chapman-King(Byron), Vernon Truell, Gary J. Chapman, and William “Butch” Evans. 22 grandchildren, 28 great- grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins and dear friends.
