Ricky Cornelius Best Sr. sadly passed away on Friday, September 20, 2024 at Memorial Health University Medical Hospital in Savannah, GA.
Ricky was born in Brooklyn, NY. He attended high school in East Lansing, MI. He attended college at St. Augustine’s University in Raleigh, NC. He majored in Music and was a member of Mu Beta Psi fraternity. While in college he formed his own band Horizon featuring Ricky Best.
Ricky was a God-fearing man. He was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. He had a beautiful, strong singing voice. He loved composing songs, playing both the keyboard and piano. He loved music of all genres. He had a love of theater. He was a man of many talents.
Ricky was a great husband and father. He loved spending quality time with his family, especially playing chess and singing with his sons. He was the rock of the family. He was the one who we all turned to for help when we had a problem, and he was always ready to assist us. He was our security blanket, who always gave us comfort.
He loved to cook, a skill he learned from his Mother. He never met a stranger. He was the type of person everyone wanted to get to know. He could hold a conversation with anyone about anything, a trait he got from his Father. He had a warm heart and compassion for others. He had a great sense of humor. His smile, laughter, and confidence will be greatly missed.
We have a hole in our hearts that will forever be void. We thank God for letting us be a part of his life. He fought the good fight until the end. He will be loved and missed everyday of our lives.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Sadie of the home. His two sons: Brandon of LA and Ricky of GA. Three sisters: Mae of FL, Michelle(Gerald) and Heather of MI. Two brothers: Tyrone(Pat) and Gregory of MI. Sister-in-law Ethel Weston of NC. A host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

The BEST Family wishes to thank the staff at Memorial Health University Medical Center and Compassus Healthcare for the great care they provided Ricky the last weeks of his life. Extended thanks to Adams Funeral Home for their services.
My father flew away today,
But I know he’s not there to stay,
Always close by, always in my heart,
Even death can’t keep us apart,
Being the example, being the man,
To give you peace is the Most Highs’ plan,
Such a great example you set the bar high,
To fill your shoes is a very hard try,
A man of many words and temperament too,
The world will definitely miss every part of you,
Your sense of humor, your style was all you,
And your way of conversing that’s you too,
Getting in the water was your way,
While so many others just waddle and play,
My dad played blacks and whites better than the Illuminati,
The most beautiful chords, a craft that only he could see,
Honouring your name and legacy is what we’ll do,
Dad it’s tough we’re all missing you
Until we meet again. In remembrance of making us the men we are today. Your sons, Brandon and Ricky Jr.
Matthew 25:23
His lord said unto him “Well done, good and faithful servant. Thou hast been faithful over a few things; I will make thee ruler over many things.
