Mr. Charles Leroy Gordon, a cherished husband, father, and esteemed member of the Savannah community, passed away peacefully at his residence on March 29, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on February 21, 1943, Charles was known for his warmth, generosity, and commitment to making a difference in the lives of those around him.
Mr. Gordon is survived by his loving and dedicated wife, Mrs. Meade Joenelle Brown-Gordon, whose unwavering support enriched their partnership for many years. He is also survived by his sons, J. Craig Gordon, Gary Gordon, Charles Alexander Gordon, and Sean Watkins, who carry forward his legacy of kindness and compassion. Charles was a devoted father whose pride in his children was evident in everything he did.
Charles was preceded in death by his son Bobby Gordon, who passed away in 1998, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever remain in the hearts of his family.
To honor the life and contributions of Mr. Gordon, a memorial service will be held on April 9, 2025, at Butler Memorial Presbyterian Church, located at 603 W Victory Dr., Savannah, GA, starting at 11:00 AM and concluding at 12:30 PM. Following the memorial service, an inurnment will take place at Bonaventure Cemetery, Greenwich Section, at 1:00 PM, with services wrapping up by 2:00 PM.
In recognizing Mr. Gordon's passion for community involvement, contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Butler Memorial Presbyterian Church in his memory, as well as to Jackson State University Athletic Department and 100 Black Men of Savannah, Inc.
Charles Leroy Gordon’s vibrant spirit and dedication to uplifting others will be greatly missed, yet his memory will live on through the many lives he touched.
