Mildred Lucile Stubbs Washington was born on September 24, 1934, in Edison, Georgia. She was the youngest of six children born to Jim and Mackey Stubbs.

At a young age, Mildred relocated to Savannah, Georgia, where she continued her education and attended Savannah State College, now known as Savannah State University. Throughout her career, she held several administrative positions before retiring from Del Monte Foods, Inc., after many years of dedicated service.

A devoted woman of faith, Mildred was an active member of First African Baptist Church. She faithfully served her church through the choir and participated in several other ministries, sharing her time, talents, and love for the Lord with her church family.

Mildred was united in marriage to Richard Washington (now deceased). Their union was blessed with two sons, Richard Washington, Jr. and Dwayne Washington.

Mildred will be remembered for her quiet strength, unwavering faith, and steadfast devotion to her family, church, and community. Her legacy of love, service, and grace will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

The Lord called Mildred from labor to reward in the earlier hours of Thursday, August 6, 2026. 

Mildred was preceded in death are her parents, five siblings, and son Dwayne Alan Washington. 

She leaves to cherish her memories one son: Richard Stubbs Washington; two grandsons: Alexander Thompson Washington (Destiney) and Brandon Thompson; one granddaughter: Callie Washington; one great-granddaughter: Amelia Washington; two daughters-in-law: Angela Washington and Harriet Hill; a goddaughter: Misty Ellison-Yousef, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and special friends: Mary B. (Eugene) Ellison, Queen E. Bing, Crystal Satcher, and Princess Mason.
