Mildred Johnson Middleton

July 2, 1921 — September 24, 2008

Mildred Johnson Middleton, 87, had her transition Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at Candler General Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Anative of Savannah, GA, she attended the public schools of Chatham County She was baptized at Asbury United Methodist Church, but in the early 1950's she became a member of Townsley Chapel A.M.R. Church under the Pastorate of Rev J.P. Lumpkin

Milfred married J.W.Johnson and three children was born into this union. He went home to be with the Lord on 1979 and she later became the wife of Richard Middleton. They spent seven years of Christian love until he was called to eternal rest in 1987.

There was quality in all things that this talentad lady touched as
she was from generation of seamstress professional (her mother and grandmother). She remained humble, performing this work almost to the time of her transition. She was employed for many years at Fine's Downtown and Oglethorpe Mall in Savannah. Belk's Department Store was another workplace as wll as her home upon retirement. The love for sewing was on a top priority list next to her children gramdchildren and family.

The Trojan Social Club, which was comprised of Townsley Chapel members was an organization that Mildred enjoyed attending, sewing and promoting charitable efforts. Although no longer active, this organization holds records of members' participation.

Mildred leaves a legency of treasures-memories that cannot be bought or sold. Among them who shares these treasures, are two daughters: Brenda E. (Jack, Jr.) Luten of Savannah, GA and Sandra J. (James) Esmond of Atlanta, GA; one son, Frederick Johnson of Savannah, GA; two sisters: Anna Hardrick of Savannah, GA and Dorothy Harris of Pooler, GA; on brother, James E. Hardrick of San Bernadine, CA; one aunt, Thelma Murphy of Savannah, GA; four grands: NeKita Norwood (Milton) Boyd, Anjenita Norwood Anderson, Tonja Norwood (Ricardo) Guerrero, and Dr. Samuel L. Young, II; six gread-grands; one goddaughter Lynda Martin-James; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral service: 11:00am Saturday, September 27, 2008 at Townsley Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, 252 Eagle Street, Savannah, GA 31415, Rev. Joseph Baker, Pastor/Eulogist. Interment: Magnolia Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Savannah, GA
