Obituary

Margaret Camillus Steed, known affectionately as Rita, was born on October 27, 1960, in Augusta, Georgia, to the late Ellis and Alma Steed. Rita passed away on February 11, 2026. She will be remembered for her warm spirit and the joy she brought to those around her.

She was preceded in death by both parents; her brother, Ellis Wayne Steed; and her grandson, Cameron.

Rita’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She touched many lives with her kindness and generosity, and her legacy will continue through the love she shared.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughters, LaTeashia Steed and Courtney (Chris) Robbins; five grandchildren, Jamari Wright, Tyjuan Wright, Camille Steed, Cailsey and Cali Robbins; her brother, Michael Steed and her sister, Marcia Steed, both of Augusta, Georgia; her sister-in-law, Debra Bolden Steed of Evans, Georgia; three nieces, KaToya Fleming, Michelle Reid, and Ebon (Jesse) Hicks; one nephew, Antonio (Erica) Steed; a very special bonus grandson, James "Akeem" Walker; a godson, Grant Hearns, Sr.; longtime friend, Mary Ann Hearns; and a host of other family members and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on February 25, 2026, at Bethlehem Baptist Church located at 1008 May St in Savannah, Georgia. The service will begin at 11:00 AM.

Following the celebration, Rita will be laid to rest at Woodville Cemetery on Roberts St, also in Savannah.
