Mable S. Bryan

February 3, 1921 — July 28, 2008

Mrs. Mable S. Bryan, 87, had her home going on Monday, July 28, 2008 at the Hospice House, after a brief illness, surrounded by her loving and devoted family.

A native of Bufort County, South Carolina, she moved to Savannah at an early age. The daughter of the late Mr. Walter and Agnes Simmons, this strong lady was an avid gardener who was loved my many. She was a trained seamstress and later worked for over twenty years as a Nurse's Assistant at Chatham Nursing Home. A long time member of Tremont Temple Missionary Baptist Church, Mrs. Bryan was preceded in death by her husband Abraham N. Bryan, Sr, and a son, Abe, Jr.

Surviving her loss but left to celebrate her life are one son, Leon (Linda) Bryan of Bonaire, Georgia; four daughters: Ruth (Rev. Harold) Baker, Marthellar VanEllison, Matilda (Shedrick) Martin and Ola (Milburn) Lewis, all of Savannah, GA; one brother, Luke (Earline) Simmons of Hilton Head, South Carolina. Also surviving her legacy are fourteen grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; a special cousin, Charlie (Rosa) Simmons of Hilton Head, South Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, close cousins, ""adopted spiritual relatives"" and friends.

Visitation will be held at the Chapel of Adams Funeral Services, 510 Stephenson Avenue on Thursday evening, July 31, 2008 from 6:00pm-7:00pm. Her home going celebration will be held this Friday, August 1, 2008 at 1:00pm from Tremont Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 1110 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd, Rev. Rick Bready, Sr., Pastor. Interment will immediately follow at Greenwich Cemetery on Bonaventure Road.
