Jimmie Mumford

Mr. Jimmie Mumford, 74, had his transition Wednesday, December 24, 2008 under the excellent and professional care at Hospice Savannah, Inc., surrounded by his loving and caring family.

Mr. Mumford was born, May 1, 1934 in Savannah, Georgia.

He attended the public schools of Chatham County, including Alfred Eli Beach High School and later furthered his career as a Mechanic.

He married Magnora Lee and started his own family and to this union, added eight children.

His parents, Robert Mumford, Mina Harvey Maddox Mumford and son Jimmy L. Mumford, Jr., preceded him in death.

Survivors: children: Joan Y. Harris of Clinton, Maryland, Pamela R. McClemore, Beryl M. Brown, both of Savannah, Georgia, Nadine Neal of Baltimore, Maryland, Edward H. Mumford of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Denise Patino of Aviano, Italy and Adrienne Mumford Waring of Richmond Hill, Georgia; three sisters: Shirley Derrian, Rachel Hemingway and Gladys Mumford; two brothers: Carl Mumford and Robert Mumford, Jr.; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service: 2:00pm, Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at Adams Funeral Services, Inc. Chapel, 510 Stephenson Avenue, Savannah, Georgia 31405. Public viewing: Monday, December 29, 2008 from 12:00 noon - 7:00pm at the funeral home. Mr. Mumford will lie in state from 9;00am until hour of service the date of the service.

Private burial will be held at a later date by the family.
