Elizabeth J. Clements

December 4, 1922 — August 5, 2008

Mrs. Elizabeth Clements, 85, made her transition Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at Hospice Savannah, Inc.

A native of Savannah and daughter of the late James A. and Minerva Jones, she confessed Christ at an early age and was a dedicated and active member of the Second African Baptist Church. Mrs. ClementsShe attended Chatham County Public Schools and graduated from Savannah State College(now Savannah State University) with a B.S. Degree in Education. She was an Educator in the Harlan County Kentucky Public Schools and retired from the Burke County Public Schools, Waynesboro, Georgia in 1986.

She was preveded in death by her parents; husband, Ernest Clements, and two brothers, Jack Jackson and John ""Johnnie"" Jones.

She leaves to cherish her memory: a niece, Mary J. Carter (Orlanda) of Greensboro, NC; nephew, Wynton J. Carter of Salem, NC; sister-in-law, Fannye M. Jones of Greeneville, TN; cousins: Ruth Richards (Francis), William Butler, Sammy Butler of Savannah, Lucy Johnon of Newark, NJ, Rosalee Daughtry of Kansas City, MO; two devoted friends, Ethel P. Stokes and Catherine Torrence of Savannah; extended family and friends.

Funeral services: 11:00am, Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at Second African Baptist Church, 123 Houston Street, Savannah, GA 31401, Rev. C. McGill Brown, Pastor. Public viewing: Tuesday, August 12, 2008 from 12:00 noon - 8:00pm at Adams Funeral Services, Inc, 510 Stephenson Avenue, Savannah, GA 31405. In state: 9:00am until hour of service. Interment: Laurel Grove Cemetery, Savannah, GA.
