Cynthia was born on January 29, 1959, to the late Mr. Albert McCound and Mrs. Barbara A. Jones. She was raised in Savannah, Georgia, where she attended Richard Arnold High School and later continued her education at Draughon's Junior College. Cynthia was a hardworking and dedicated woman who built a long and successful career with New York Life Insurance Company. She faithfully served the company for 26 years before retiring in 2014. Her years of service reflected the commitment and strength that she carried throughout her life.For several years, Cynthia courageously battled illness. Through the difficult days, she continued to be surrounded by the love of her family and those closest to her. On Wednesday, September 23, Cynthia peacefully transitioned at Candler Hospital in Savannah, Georgia. Cynthia’s life will be remembered not simply by the years she lived, but by the lives she touched and the family she leaves behind. She leaves to cherish her loving memory her son, Curtis A. Edwards; her daughter, Erica C. Roberson; her brother, Albert McCound (Janice); five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her lifelong friend, Lynda Broomfield, and her goddaughter, Ashley Broomfield, along with many other family members, friends, and loved ones who will forever carry her memory in their hearts. Cynthia was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Her journey here has ended, but the love she gave, the lessons she taught, and the memories she created remain with those who knew and loved her. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy will continue through the generations that follow her.

A memorial service celebrating Cynthia’s life will be held on Friday, October 2, at 2:00 a.m. in the chapel of Adams Funeral Home located 510 Stephenson Avenue in Savannah, Georgia.
