Betty Williams, a beloved mother and cherished member of the Savannah community, peacefully passed away on December 23, 2025, at Wellstar Cobb Hospital in Austell, Georgia. Born on October 7, 1938, in Savannah, Georgia, Betty was a proud product of the Savannah Public School System, where she cultivated her sharp wit and warm-hearted humor that would delight those around her throughout her life.
For over 34 years, Betty passionately dedicated herself to the role of a school food service cook, nourishing countless students with not just food, but affection and kindness. Her culinary contributions extended far beyond the kitchen, as she infused laughter and joy into every meal, creating a sense of community and belonging among the children and staff alike.
Betty had a vibrant personality; her quick tongue and infectious laughter made her a beacon of positivity in the lives of many. Friends and family alike will fondly remember her for her ability to light up any room she entered, sharing jokes and stories that brought warmth and laughter to even the most mundane days.
She is survived by her loving son, Charles Alvin Westbrook, who carries forward her legacy of humor, resilience, and compassion. Charles remains a testament to Betty's nurturing spirit, reflecting the love and values instilled in him throughout his life.
As we remember Betty Williams, let us celebrate a life richly lived, one filled with flavors of laughter, warmth, and a deep commitment to caring for others. Her contributions—both in her professional life and among family and friends—will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
