The Life and Legacy of Arthur Bill Johns.

Arthur Bill Johns was born on September 18, 1949, in Brewerville, Liberia, to the union of Samuel Johns and Clara Gant Johns. Affectionately known as “Bill,” he began his early education at St. Patrick Elementary School and later attended Lott Carey Mission Boarding School. Continuing his academic High school journey in the heart of the city, he enrolled at AME Zion Academy, where he graduated with distinction. During his time there, Bill pursued his passion for architecture by becoming an apprentice at the Milton and Richards Architectural Firm, aspiring to become an architect.

While serving as an apprentice, an opportunity arose for him to migrate to the United States, which he embraced. He relocated to New York City around 1969, where he resided until 1981.

Arthur was united in holy matrimony to Michelle Dent Johns. Together, they built a beautiful life in Savannah, Georgia, and were blessed with 35 years of loving marriage.

At an early age, Arthur accepted Christ as his Savior and remained devoted to serving the Lord throughout his life. He was a member of Central Baptist Church in Savannah, Georgia. Arthur loved helping others and served as a mentor to many. Always willing to lend a helping hand, his faith shine brightly through his kindness, compassion, and unwavering spirit of service.

Professionally, Arthur worked in the grocery provisions industry, serving as a General Manager in several Savannah-area stores, including Food town and M&M. He retired from Piggly Wiggly after 25 years of dedicated service. Throughout his career, he earned numerous awards and accolades in recognition of his hard work, leadership, and commitment. He was known for giving his very best in both his profession and his faith.

Arthur Bill Johns will be remembered for his radiant smile, joyful laughter, generous heart, and steadfast love for his family and friends. He found great joy in dancing, sharing laughter, and spending quality time with those he loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Clara Gant Johns; his beloved wife, Michelle Dent Johns; his sisters, Patricia Johns-Gaye and Maureen Johns Doe; his daughter, Tawana Michelle Dent; his nephew, Alphonso Gaye (Pong); and his niece, Maureen S. Doe (Tutu)

Bill quietly departed this life on February 14, 2026. His beautiful life and enduring legacy will forever be cherished by his loving children: Marion Johns; Taurus Johns (Patricia Johns); Billy Johns, Jr.; Fanta Kamara (Gary); Dianetta Johns Williams (Enrico Williams); Myasia Johns; Jamari Johns; and Sybill Johns; 19 grandchildren.

His Siblings, Edith Johns, Eddie Johns, McDonald Johns, Clarence Edu (Martha Edu), and Clara Edu, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends.

A viewing will be held from 4 PM - 6 PM, Friday, March 6, 2026 at Adams Funeral Services- 510 Stephenson Ave. Savannah, GA 31405.

The Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 7, 2026 at Fairmont Baptist Church, located at 721 E. Bolton St., Savannah, GA 31401.

Burial: Oak Grove Cemetery.
