With full hearts and deep gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of our beloved Annie P. Hudson, affectionately known to many as “Nana.”
Born in Miami, Florida, in 1941 to Thomas Shaw Powe and Ethel Lee Davis, Annie’s beautiful life and legacy will continue through her four children: Brenda Powe-Conley, Ernest Powe, Erik Hudson, and Jerome Hudson.
She was also blessed with wonderful grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she adored deeply. Her grandchildren include Nephfratera Carter and Norman Brown Jr., children of Brenda Powe-Conley; and Kailah Slater, Erika Hudson, and Ebony Hudson, children of Erik Hudson.
Her great-grandchildren include Shaun Carter and Alex Carter, children of Nephfratera Carter; Wesley Brown, Jackson Brown, and Bailey Brown, children of Norman Brown Jr.; and Kassidie, daughter of Kailah Slater.
Along with many extended family members, her church family, and dear friends, Annie leaves behind generations of love, cherished memories, valuable lessons, and a legacy that will continue to live on through all who knew and loved her.
Annie was a gentle, loving, patient, and nurturing woman whose presence brought comfort and peace to everyone around her. She had a warm spirit that made people feel safe, welcomed, and understood. Whether you came to her with joy, pain, confusion, or simply needing someone to listen, she had a special way of helping you feel lighter before the conversation was over. Somehow, she could take life’s problems and gently turn them around with wisdom, prayer, laughter, and love.
To her family, she was more than a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother — she was home.
She loved deeply and gave endlessly to those around her -- to her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family, who were among the greatest joys of her life. She helped raise generations with kindness, faith, patience, guidance, and humor.
Nana was known for her angelic smile and unforgettable laugh that lit up the room. She could make people laugh, and at the same time offer wisdom that stayed with you long after the conversation ended. Family members will always remember her standing with one hand on her hip, one leg slightly kicked to the side, and slapping her hand against her thigh when she was making a point, laughing hard, or simply enjoying the moment. Those little gestures became part of the lovely memories she leaves behind.
A woman of abiding faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Annie often quoted scripture and believed deeply in prayer, compassion, forgiveness, and family. Her quiet strength, soft heart, and loving spirit touched countless lives and created bonds that will never be broken.
Though our hearts are heavy, we are thankful for the years of lessons, laughter, prayers, hugs, and unconditional love she shared with us. Her memory will continue to live on in the stories we tell, the lessons we carry forward, the love we give one another, and the many ways she shaped our lives.
