Obituary

Adriyel R. Baker, a beloved son, husband, father, brother, and friend, was born on May 7, 1981, in Savannah, Georgia. His unexpected passing on March 18, 2026, in his hometown has left an irreplaceable void in the hearts of all who knew him.

Adriyel was the youngest son of the late Willie Baker Jr. and Imogene Black Maxwell Baker. He grew up in Savannah and attended the Savannah Chatham County School System, where his presence was as vibrant as his personality. Known for being funny, talkative, dramatic, entertaining, and animated, Adriyel truly embodied the spirited "Baker aggression" for those who understood that unique family trait.

He proudly served for many years in the food industry, dedicating 14 years as a chef at Vic's on the River. This not only showcased his passion and skill but also reflected his commitment to bringing joy to others through his craft. Beyond his culinary talents, Adriyel found joy in playing video games, a hobby that allowed him to engage with friends and unwind with enthusiasm.

A man of deep faith, Adriyel was a faithful member of The True Words of Yahweh, Yahshua Assembly Inc., where he served with devotion. One of his proudest moments was the day he was immersed in Yahshua’s Name, a testament to his spiritual commitment and personal journey.

Adriyel’s treasured memory was of his wedding day, a shining moment he held close to his heart, reflecting the profound love he shared with his wife, Jelisa Barnes-Baker

Family was the cornerstone of Adriyel’s life. He leaves to cherish his memories his loving and devoted wife, Jelisa Barnes-Baker, his sons, Daiquan Baker, Jamari Barnes, and Jakell Baker, one grandson, Di'Nere Baker, his brothers Willie Baker (Wendy), Adolph Baker (Francies), Eleazar Baker, and Asriel Baker, his sisters Di’nice Baker Davis (Ronald), Swadray Baker, Dayisaray Baker, Travelverlayus Baker, Sorainuare Baker, Sumula Baker, and Kayshe’l Baker. He was also cherished by his aunts, Ernestine Lawton, Diane Joyner, Bernice Wynn (Michael), Ruth Fields, and uncles Junior Woody, Joseph Baker and Edwin Fields, along with a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and a history of caring friends who were privileged to know his vibrant spirit.

Adriyel’s life journey culminates in a legacy of laughter, warmth, and unwavering love—a man who brightened the lives of those around him with his infectious energy and compassionate heart.

Though Adriyel has departed from this world, his spirit remains vividly alive within those who loved him. His story is one of unwavering faith, fierce familial love, and a zest for life that touched many. He will be deeply missed, but forever remembered with affection and gratitude for the light he brought into our lives.
