Adams announces the passing of Mr. John Roger Williams, Jr., 82, who transitioned on Tuesday, May 01, 2018 at Hospice Savannah, Inc.
John Roger Williams,Jr, affectionately known by his family and friends as Bill, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Hospice Savannah. He was born January 12, 1936, in Savannah, Georgia and was the eldest son of John Roger Williams, Sr. and Freddie Mae Jones Williams.
John was a student at Alfred Ely Beach High School, when on completion of his junior year, he enlisted in the United States Navy. After honorably serving his country, John returned to Savannah and was employed in a Civil Service Management position at Hunter Army Airfield, from which he retired in 1980.
John is survived by daughters, Andreaetta Williams-Alvin, Savannah, Georgia, Fratishya Williams, Athens Georgia. Surviving siblings are Jean Golden (Jim), Savannah, Georgia; Deloris Tindal, Detroit, Michigan, Lee Watts Williams (Shirley), Savannah, Georgia; Virginia Edwards Maynor (William), Savannah, Georgia, Marcia Willette Anderson, Atlanta, Georgia; Yvonne Denise Curry (Terry), Clarksville, Tennesse; Grandsons, Richard Daniel Williams, Quentin Willis, both of Athens Georgia; an aunt, Gertrude Reid, Boston, Massachusetts; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and a loving and devoted companion Ruth Teasley.
He was predeceased by his parents, daughters, Andrea Jeanine, Toni Lynn, Deidre Darlene and brothers, Roland Edward Williams and Alvin Carl Rufus Williams.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday , June 4, 2018, at Coffee Bluff Marina, 14915 Coffee Bluff Road, Savannah, Georgia 31419.
