Adams announces the passing of Mrs. Geraldine "Gerri" Kirkland Jones, 77, who transitioned on July 11, 2017 at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Adams announces the funeral service of Mrs. Geraldine K. Jones which will be held 12:00 P.M., Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Compassion Christian Church- East Campus located 9150 Old Montgomery Rd. Savannah, GA 31406
Visitation with the family will be held from 5:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M., Friday, July 14, 2017 at the funeral home.
Interment: Washington National Cemetery in Suitland, MD.

On Tuesday, July 11, 2017, God called home a loving mother, wife, friend, and most of all an Angel of Life. Mrs. Geraldine Kirkland Jones affectionately known as “Gerri” was born April 28, 1940 in Shelby, North Carolina to the loving parents of Frances Gaston Kirkland and J. D. Kirkland who preceded her in death as well as her four siblings (Charles, Frank, Bobby, and Gwendolyn).
Gerri lived a vibrant and bold life with love and laughter. She started her basic education in the Virginia school system and completed her schooling in the Baltimore school system. Gerri earned a Cosmetology license at Carver Tech in Baltimore, MD and worked for a while in this field. She also tried her hand in Dry cleaning with Polly Prim and worked several years learning each position of the dry cleaning business.
Gerri was blessed with a devoted and loving daughter, Fredricka Lelitia Anderson. She was later united in Holy Matrimony to Joseph Jones Sr. on November 10, 1983 and remained married for 33 years until her death. Gerri then excelled to the banking arena with Riggs Bank where she worked for 16 years. Once in Savannah, she continued the banking career until her retirement in 2012. Gerri was a dedicated worker.
Mrs. Geraldine Kirkland Jones is survived by her husband Joseph Jones Sr. of Savannah, GA; four children: Fredricka Richardson of Oxon Hills, MD, Tracy Jones Swint of Greenwood, FL, Joseph Jones Jr. and LaKisha Jones of Atlanta, GA; six grandchildren: Marcus Richardson of Oxon Hills, MD, Andreshia Speights of Altamonte Springs, FL; George Robinson Jr. of Greenwood, FL, Mackenzie, Maurice, and Diana of Atlanta, GA; two great-grandchildren: Jamarian and Julianna Robinson of Panama City, FL. A host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family of Mrs. Geraldine Kirkland Jones is humbled by the outpouring of love and kindness expressed by our relatives and friends. Please know that we are grateful to God for each of you. We ask that you continue to keep us in your prayers and Geraldine in your memory.
We would like to give special thanks to Nikea Mitchell, Jacquelyn McQueen, Melvin Mitchell, and Victoria Agyekum for their caring services and support to our mother over the years.
